Tech-or-Treat 2024 Involvement Form

Event Information

The Student Union Building and the Student Activities Board, along with building partners, will be hosting Tech-or-Treat on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5:30 to 9:00pm throughout the Student Union Building. Groups should plan to be there for check in/set up by 4:00pm and plan to stay for the entire event.

PLEASE NOTE: To ensure that you have enough give aways for the entire 3. hours. The suggestion is 1000 of whatever you are planning on giving away (pieces of candy, small prizes, etc).

Student organizations and Texas Tech University departments will have the opportunity to sign up for an area/booth to create and host a game/activity. This is a great opportunity to provide a safe environment for Lubbock families, and to offer an alternative to trick or treating. Candy is permitted, but creativity in other "giveaways" is encouraged! (For example- spider rings, "goo", other festive trinkets.)

Registration opens on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 8:00am and closes Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 11:59pm. Activities and games will be approved in the order in which they are received. Duplicate activities will not be permitted.

Some activities that have been done in the past include face-painting, "fishing" for prizes, bean bag or ring toss games, prize wheel, sack race, musical chairs, mummy-wrapping contest with toilet paper, paper crafts, coloring and story time.

Departments and organizations will have the opportunity to create games/activities for their booth during Tech-or-Treat. When applying for the activity your group will be hosting, please note that the following are prohibited items:

Big containers with water
Fog machines
Flames (including candles)
Flammable items (including hay, straw, etc.)
Fuel (gasoline, alcohol, butane)
Glitter
Sand
Cobwebs

In addition to the prohibited items, groups must:

Keep all walkways clear
Use only decorations that are free standing (not attached to the walls or furniture)
Refrain from using tape, nails or staples on the floors and walls
Refrain from distributing home cooked/baked items

Activities/games will be approved in the order in which they are received.

Agreement

By submitting this form, my group agrees to follow all policies and procedures of Texas Tech University and rules associated with the Student Union Building. We understand that all set-up requests are not guaranteed.

We understand that an email will be sent to the representative listed with additional information about picking up passes, confirming set-up, etc. on Friday, October 20. Passes will be available for pick up from Monday, October 23rd at 8:00 am through October 24th at noon in the Student Activities office. Failure to pick up the passes and confirm our activity information in that time frame may result in our activity being removed from the event.

We also understand that groups may have a maximum of THREE volunteers present at their Tech-or-Treat booth at any given time. My group's booth during Tech-or-Treat will be staffed the entire time, with set up being at 4:00PM and take down at 9:15PM on October 24, 2023.
